    It is imperative that the board to support an act on the recommendations presented. While it’s fiscally cheaper in the short run to not act it will only cost more money to rectify in the future. This county has an excellent reputation for Public Safety and if that is to continue the issues such as pay and retention must be addressed.

    Please strongly consider the recommendations made by PFM. The outcome of this pay study and much needed changes are crucial for retention of the most highly qualified members of the police department.

    I hope the members of the board look at the recommendations made by PFM and support them. Public Safety is very important to all of the residents and a high turnover rate due to salary is very costly. Not only is it expensive to train these employees but the overtime costs to staff the areas/stations because of vacancies can be very high.
