Will any of the supervisors have the courage to publicly question the four school board members who voted 4-3 against the community using just one PWCS H.S. track for a few hours each weekend, while in the same budget the board voted to spend more than $3 million in public funding on HS artificial turf fields that the public also cannot use? FCPS has all 25 of its HS tracks publicly accessible and you can’t even do 1?! If you want private fields/tracks than privately fund them. Thank you.

The school board did not listen to the pleas of its teachers. We are so far behind neighboring counties in terms of salaries that we will never catch up. It’s simply taking advantage of teachers when you pay them contract hours but you know they work so much more for free. This year show the teachers, ESPs, staff that you respect all they do by giving a 2% COLA.

PWCS lags in funding in cost per pupil compared to Loudoun, Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, Manassas, Manssas Park, and Falls Church. Because of this, there is a lack of compensation for bus drivers, aides, and educators. If there is more funding, then more bus drivers can be hired to help with bus runs, better pay to help keep staff like teachers and support personnel to stay in the county. Please consider increasing the tax rate to catch our schools up in cost per pupil funding!

Not only should we support this budget, but I would hope the BOCS could look at how to fund increasing teacher salaries. PWCS lags behind other Northern Virginia school districts in pay.
