A. RES – Change Composition of the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail Board to Appoint a Member of the Board of the County Supervisors in the Place of the Position of the Appointment of the County Executive; Appoint – Supervisor Yesli Vega to the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail Board – Supervisor Lawson
I oppose modifying the new Jail Board, as I feel the newly appointed members reflect a broad range of backgrounds and viewpoints. Despite being a resident of the Coles District, I don't feel my Supervisor has the needed objectivity to represent the needs of our diverse Prince William County community. She is no friend to the immigrant community, a vital and vibrant part of our Prince William family.
I oppose the appointment of Vega because of her support for maintaining a $300,000/year relationship with ICE, an organization that's lost 1,500 kids, possibly putting them in the hands of human trafficking and forced labor, according to reports included in a Sept. 2018 New York Times piece. Such a cruel, vicious, and inhumane organization should have no role whatsoever in Prince William County or anywhere else. *REPOST

Such a cruel, vicious, and inhumane organization should have no role whatsoever in Prince William County or anywhere else.
I strongly urge the Board to support and adopt Res.12-406, Supervisor Lawson's proposal to change the Jail Board composition and appointment of Supervisor Yesli Vega, in place of the County Executive. Supervisor Vega is fully qualified for the appointment, especially in light of her LE background and firsthand, local relationship, knowledge and experience with our majority minority population. She has made clear her full commitment to the community and has their best interests at heart.
I strongly urge the board to adopt this change and appoint Supervisor Vega to the board. Her unique understanding of and experience in law enforcement as well as her service thus far on the board will ensure that decisions the jail board makes are well-informed and representative of all aspects of our community. She has demonstrated her concern for the safety and well-being of the county’s citizens.
After considering this proposal, I strongly urge the Board to adopt the resolution and appoint Supv Vega to the Jail Board! She is not only eminently qualified with her LE background, but has consistently demonstrated resolve to keep the best interest of all PWC citizens as her mission regardless of the issue at hand. I’m impressed with her care and commitment to serve her constituents and the county. The nomination is brilliant, she would be the best possible representative.
I oppose the appointment of Supervisor Vega to the Jail Board because it is an attempt to circumvent the appointments of a more progressive Jail Board. The jail system's relationship with ICE foments distrust in the community and has no place in such a diverse county. Beyond that, we should be pursuing the progressive incarceration policies that PWC voted for in 2019. This is an attempt to circumvent meaningful change that should be opposed by PWC leaders.
I respectfully oppose the modification of the composition of the Regional Jail Board, that kind of appointments required individuals with a clear mind and with the health of our community at heart. Furthermore, I strongly oppose the appointment of Supervisor. Yesli Vega because brings biased sentiments to this board, also because in her short time in office, she comes across as having strong anti-immigrants sentiments and very little empathy toward the the Hispanic community!
Yesli has the best credentials to sit on the board. She know what is happening in PWC and what the residents need and want. I applaud he nomination to the board. Col Desi Arnaiz, USAF Ret
I firmly oppose appointing Supervisor Vega to the Jail Board. I believe she will carry on as she has during the BOCS meetings, and needs time to grow. As a prior police officer, I’m saddened that she did not step up with the jails during the COVID crisis or assist during the current tensions, leveraging her unique platform. Now that specific policy is called to question, she has been nominated.
This saddens me me deeply, as the county needs her now. I believe she can be an ambassador of change
I oppose changing the composition of the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail Board. Keeping the County Executive on the Board will ensure a member who is knowledgeable on county and state regulations.
I oppose Supervisor's Vega appointment on the PW-Manassas Jail Board. This seems like an obstinate attempt after Supervisor Vega was unable to nominate her preferred candidate earlier this year (someone whose background she had failed to completely understand since she later admitted she had to Google who Stephen Miller was (among other things, her nominee used to work for Mr. Miller supporting policies rejected by the majority of this county residents)
I support the appointment of Supervisor Yesli Vega to the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail Board by Supervisor Lawson. Thank you for taking my comment. Sincerely, Anne Patsalosavvis
I would like to voice my strong support for this appointment. Supervisor Vega is well suited with her background and hands on experience to be placed on this Board.
I support the appointment of Supervisor Vega to the Jail Board. Her unique experience as a former law enforcement officer combined with her role as the duly elected Coles District Supervisor will provide this County with tangible and valuable expertise when updating current policy or drafting and implementing new policies to be implemented by our Sheriff's Department.
I fully support this resolution. I believe that Supervisor Vega is uniquely qualified for this position. She is the only member of the board and one of the few members of the county staff that has actually been a deputy sheriff and has worked in the jail.

Yesli Vega would be a good member for our Jail Board. She is a former police officer and an energetic, accessible representative.
