I urge all Supervisors to vote for the proclamation declaring June 2020 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month. While Prince William is a diverse county, not all feel welcome. The LGBTQIA community are marginalized, shrinking themselves into more "acceptable" public expectations in ways some community members prefer. This is an opportunity for Prince William to lead in declaring all are welcome. Young LGBTQIA residents are watching to see if this county is one to invest their talent and treasure, or to leave.
During citizen time I would like to discuss Oriented Policing and Diversification Efforts. Thank you Sup. Boddye for addressing, I don't want to step on toes. I do have PowerPoint, how do I add for Supervisors to see for my citizen time?
As a facilitator for PFLAG PWC, I support this proclamation. It's important to show to our County residents that our County Supervisors support the LGBTQ+ community and encourages County staff to enact policies, practices, and procedures that make LGBTQ+ folks feel included. Many of these actions can also benefit cisgender heterosexual individuals such as using gender neutral language or including pronouns in signature lines. A proclamation is the first step to an equitable inclusive county.

Please pass this. Since LGBTQ+ people don’t have full equality and dignity yet they need this to raise awareness.
