The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine are appointed by Congress to advise the People of our County and Nation on matters of Science. The National Academies have stated unequivocally; 1) Climate Change is real, 2) Climate Chane is happening now, 3) Climate Change is caused by human activities, 4) Bold leadership is required now.
I support a clean energy plan for Prince William County. We need to step up and move forward on action that combats climate change as Fairfax, Arlington, and Loudon counties have done. We need to be a part of the goal for 50% reduced emissions in our region by 2030. Our county must examine its biggest sources of pollution, tackle them head-on, and create new jobs in the process. As a young person I aspire to a clean-energy Virginia for my generation and those to come. We must act now.
We need a clean energy plan in this county. The counties surrounding us are all looking to the future and making plans on how to reduce our emissions and prevent damage from climate change, but we are unprepared. The metro. Wash. council gov. board has approved a plan for a 50% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 and we need to conform with that rule and make a county plan. We need to push the private/public sectors to transition to net zero buildings and promote clean transportation in PWC.
