I am concerned on the idea of reducing property tax rates to where residents' tax would remain the same. There is a serious flaw in this mindset because it doesn't take inflation into account. You can take actions like freezing salaries but goods and services the county purchases to run the county will go up in cost due to inflation. Should we reduce firefighter and police training by the inflation rate to account for the tax cap? Should we reduce the amount of food used in school lunches?

The fact that you are even considering tax increases at this time is disgusting.

I do not support increase in taxes.I request reconsidering where monies spent.Much of the storm water mngmnt infrastructure is in disrepair or failed yet expenditures on Class A/B construction for County facilities. Level of new fire depts.,bldgs&schools is over the top! I urge those spending our $ to minimize cost.Should be nice yet functional for the use.Collapsed pipes near 50yrs age block streams, flood homes, erode, damage.Lewis home flooded again yesterday!Should take priority. Please solve!

How can the board even look at raising the taxes, raising taxes is an insult to the Prince William community. The ecomomy is in the worse shape since the depression, there is unemployment, there will be no raises for those who are working and still have a job. I think the board is taking advantage of the situation of the virus to pass tax increases.

Prince William County has the third highest unemployment claims (17,353) in the state over the last 4 week period behind Virginia Beach (19,546) and Fairfax County (37,901). Now is not the time to be increasing the tax burden on PWC residents or businesses. If anything we should be working to drastically lower the tax burden as much as possible.

Data for the above numbers is from here: https://www.vec.virginia.gov/UI-press-release

Is it just me, or does it seem as though there are endless ways to tax the citizens? The idea of raising taxes when we are in a Historic Crisis not seen since the Great Depression and WWII is beyond comprehension. People are out of work with no income and worried about losing their homes. Was this a trial balloon to see if we were paying attention? The incremental taxation needs to STOP! Please rethink this tax issue and show a little humanity toward the People of PWC!

In addition to opposing any increase in R/E Tax Rate, how does the BOS justify a 37.5% increase in Auto, Truck and Motor Home License Tax; a 66.66% increase for Motorcycles? Tangible Personal Property only has a 8% increase, but businesses, like residents are impacted by this Virus downturn of our economy. No tax increase should be considered for 2021. If the BOS had good business sense they, along with the County Executive, School Board and Superintendent would look for ways to cut expenses.

I vehemently oppose any increase in property tax now and for the foreseeable future. People are dying, millions have filed for unemployment, home ownership is on the brink of collapse and you want to raise the property tax?? The governor and state legislature want to increase state tax, gasoline tax and any other tax for which they have jurisdiction. When you add the outrageous tolls (user tax) of the HOT lanes, we have the ingredients of a Virginia "Boston Tea Party". Enough is enough.

PWC has not demonstrated a need to increase property taxes, especially to the HIGHEST in the state. Perhaps you have forgotten the tax payer revolt in FFX in the early '90s for doing the same thing. The burden of funding PWC cannot fall solely to homeowners. Add a small consumption tax if you must to spread the burden across all PWC residents.

Our nation, our state, our county are all in a state of fear and panic over an unknown pandemic killing thousands. People have lost their jobs and are required to sequester at home to hopefully contain the spread of this COVID-19. This is NOT the time for the BOCS to propose property tax increases. There is enough revenue in the budget to maintain the taxes as is. It’s time for the Board to think of the people they are representing and put people over profit. DO YOUR JOB.

I oppose any new tax increase while taxpayers are experiencing high unemployment & the county has a $26 million revenue over last year's budget. You should be looking for ways to cut taxes & the budget.

No new or increased taxes are necessary, period, but certainly not at a time when people are struggling with no relief in sight. Many people have lost their jobs (not that that is something you are worrying about), or have had their hours and/or pay reduced. You need to do your job and figure out how to CUT costs, just like the rest of us are having do. Do your job.
If anything you should be approving a tax DECREASE. I am embarrassed by the lack of leadership.

I am opposed to an increase in the residential property tax rate. With skyrocketing unemployment and the economy headed into a recession, it would be irresponsible for the County Board to Supervisors to approve an increase in the residential property tax rate.

I'm actually appalled this is even being considered. Especially dealing with the circumstances from this virus. There are people out there loosing their jobs left and right. I beg you to consider the dire times we are all suffering from right now. By the way, shouldn't the school system have money left over from this year due to the fact they closed early?

I also oppose any property tax increase. Those board members that would support an increase should remember: We can pay for anything we want to do but we cannot pay for everything we want to do. Prince William County has sufficient funds to provide the necessary services to residents and businesses. It needs to make real decisions about what is a necessity and what are just want-to-haves.

I am opposed to any property tax increase. We are heading into a major recession . All capital projects should be put off three years.
