I oppose the raising of taxes by any means. The county must create a rainy day fund to which it should put aside at least 25% of the taxes that it raises during the year. Why? Most people are not aware that the US is headed into an economic depression that will make 1929-1939 look like a picnic outing. Many people will be unemployed therefore taxes will not be collected to pay for already established programs not to mention new programs. The economic suffering will be catastrophic.

Madam Chair Wheeler and members of the BOCS. Thanks for all your work on behalf of the people of Prince William County. Regarding the proposed hike in taxes, specifically the property taxes, Based on the fiscal data covered, It seems that Supervisor Vega's sensible threshold of 1.052 she proposed is adequate for the county to not only survive but stay within the comfort zone. Property owners realize the importance to generate revenues for our county but should refrain from excess.
