Congratulations to all of your who have commented on this initiative and voted in favor of seeing this initiative come to fruition. In addition to the nine comments we have received so far, more than 70 people have voted in favor of it. That exceeds the size of our Woodbridge area emailing list and we have done it in just over 24 hours!

I would also like to note that this appears to be the very first submission of an "Idea" through PWC's SpeakUp forum. I bet they will be pleased with the success they are achieving in getting the public engaged with our local Government through this medium.

I'd welcome the opportunity to logically explore the idea of a brand new lighted pickleball specific court. There once were no baseball diamonds, no skate parks, and no tennis courts in in Prince William County or anywhere else for that matter. Each of these was once a brand new initiative. They were nearly all brought about the the dedication of a handful of advocates who were willing to put in the time and effort to bring their own "fields of dreams" to reality. The reality is that new things happen when people have the vision and determination to make them happen.

The reason that so many tennis courts are being abandoned across the country, as well as here in PWC, is because the sport is in decline. The US Tennis Association's membership peaked a few years ago and has been in decline since. Our desire is to bring new life to one or more of those facilities by repurposing them for an activity that will see them used.
